Valley Vultures at the Spencerville Fair

Here is my footage of our club's hang-gliding demonstration at the Spencerville Fair. Note that Johnny was kind enough to lend us his ATV for retreiving the line. Thanks Johnny!

My wife shot the footage on the ground and I combined it with footage from the DV camera on my keel.

Important Safety Tip - tying down your glider

Last Sunday the club went to Siamak's airfield in Williamsburg.

The winds were gusting to 35km on occasion and two gliders (my own included) got flipped into the wind. The cabling caught me by the neck and my head nearly came off before I got things under control. Johnny's glider tumbled into the ditch and was about to cross the road when Siamak grabbed it.

I have been calling around and it looks like the best solution is a metal corkscrew used to keep large dogs anchored (by their leash). The anchor is attached to the keel when the glider is at rest on the ground. Good idea!

If you have any better ideas, please let me know.

Welcome!

Hi all,

I decided to start an "online logbook" for flying activities associated with the Valley Vultures.

Here it is!

Hmmm -- not too much of interest so far, but lots of interesting stuff to appear soon -- our demonstration at Spencerville Fair and our first outing to WIlliamsburg airfield.

Stay tuned!

BTW I placed footage of the Spencerville Fair on YouTube at: www.youtube.com/user/Zamiotana
