Last Sunday the club went to Siamak's airfield in Williamsburg.
The winds were gusting to 35km on occasion and two gliders (my own included) got flipped into the wind. The cabling caught me by the neck and my head nearly came off before I got things under control. Johnny's glider tumbled into the ditch and was about to cross the road when Siamak grabbed it.
I have been calling around and it looks like the best solution is a metal corkscrew used to keep large dogs anchored (by their leash). The anchor is attached to the keel when the glider is at rest on the ground. Good idea!
If you have any better ideas, please let me know.
